"So, in terms of our first-generation ThunderX product obviously, it was a quick time-to-market product. And we are targeting a specific subset of applications which can be panelized and really use a panelizable architecture, rather than a much more beefier individual core."
Thunder-X was a quick time to market product. They elected to go with a large core-count, but beefier cores are on the way.
"The competitive environment is pretty much one competitor, right, because, other than Intel, there is no real significant competitor in this particular market."
This sounds very familiar.
"Sales into the access and service to [other] markets were up, primarily due to strength in wireless infrastructure."
Unlike AMCC, CAVM also competes in the wireless infrastructure market.
"Two of the leading ODMs have completed full production qualification of their ThunderX based platforms."
Qualification seems to be a hurdle for both companies in the ARM-server data center.
"We expect revenues to ramp in the second half of this year."
We seem to be hearing the same thing from both AMCC and CAVM: the ramp begins in the second half (AMCC's Q3, reported at the end of January '17, should prove pivotal).
