...or perhaps a new type of hard candy. Thanks for the sharp eye.
I think you're right. I would even go so far as to say that if you remember the exchange between Gopi and an analyst, whose name now escapes me, the question was asked, "Would AMCC be open to selling the connectivity business?", and GOPI replied "No. It has to be a package deal.", meaning the ARM processor and the connectivity business together only. QCOM likely feels they don't need ARM processor know-how, but they do need connectivity, as CAVM's recent purchase of QLogic proves. It also proves that AMCC's connectivity business is needed and relevant to its ARM processor business. It also shows one area where AMCC is way ahead of CAVM: connectivity. Let's not forget too that someone is subsidizing AMCC's development of PAM4, which is very big. CAVM has had to spend big-time to get into the connectivity game, which attests to the size and significance of the data center market.
So, we are definitely for sale, for the right price, for the whole company. The more solutions and partnerships AMCC can come up with, the better: partnerships are all indicators of future customers.
