"Raymond James TM Talk: ARMH,AMCC,CAVM
Semiconductors J. Steven Smigie, ARMH,AMCC,CAVM: Alibaba wants to become ARM partner- Early this morning ARM Holdings announced the proposed acquisition by Softbank in a {24.3 billion all-cash transaction. Perhaps most importantly as it relates to our coverage universe. Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son indicated Alibaba's CEO Jack Ma wants to be an ARM partner in China, and could become a direct ARM licensee for smart phones, cloud, and IoT. While Alibaba had already been an early proponent of ARM-based technology in the data center for specific workloads- and China in general is committed to exploring alternatives to x86-in our view, this suggests Alibaba is interested in using ARM much more broadly across its operations. We believe this could benefit leading ARM-based server processor suppliers Applied Micro Circuits and Cavium(and eventually Qualcomm) who are already actively engaged in ARM-based server deployment in China."
Any deep pocketed Chinese Companies interested in purchasing AMCC for a deep pocketed price??!?
