It would be great if they did, wouldn't it Chris? AMCC is MSCC's kind of company too: a very targeted product line available at a discount to intrinsic value.

Microsemi has a leading bid of $12.05 share.
Skyworks began the bidding process at $10.50 share.
Microsemi share price is getting bashed. Recently reached $37.00 share. After the PMC Sierra bid was accepted Microsemi sold off to settle at $33.87 share.
$33 share is not a bad price to pay for Microsemi stock.
Yes, the market seems skeptical about the synergies of MSCC's bid for PMCS. It's still a very crowded market. The only piece of the puzzle that MSCC does NOT have is next generation processing capability. What do you think Christopher?

phobos,
I believe after purchasing TWO companies(PMCS,VTSS) this year, Microsemi will now have to organize their mass of acquisitions with what they already have.
Could MSCC afford or be able to purchase more companies?
I do not see them purchasing any more companies for a couple of years, but what do I know? I do know that IF they were able to, I believe that AMCC would make a very good acquisition for Microsemi (MSCC). For a price of at least $16.00 share!

I know you're right Christopher. It's wishful thinking on my part. MSCC needs to assimilate what they've already bought. Also, they like to get companies on the cheap, and I don't think Gopi would go for that (neither would I) at least at this point. There is more waiting in our future.

phobos,
"There is more waiting in our future"
Maybe, maybe not.
I know that if a sale price is in line with what the revenue scale is, then I will be wanting to wait for at least a few more quarters, or more! I am really wanting at least a $16 sale to occur (it is possible and will help to offset my Vitesse debacle)
Since we are talking about a possible sale with Microsemi, The question now is:
Who else could be a candidate in the purchase of AMCC? There must be a list of some size?
INTC?, QCOM? Who else??
How about Xilinx?
I believe Xilinx was brought up before but are they really a candidate? They look big enough to handle the transaction but do they really match up to what AMCC is all about?

Xilinx is a good one. They make FPGAs, and purchasing AMCC would give them a captive market and a solid entry into the data center space. It kind of makes sense.
